On December 21, in the framework of the Unified System of Aviation Security and Civil Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the first two helicopters of the Airbus H-225 Super Puma arrived in Ukraine. The certificate for one of them today was solemnly handed over to the rescuers by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The Head of State noted that this is a vivid testimony to the strengthening of the material base of rescuers and units of the National Guard.
According to him, a great deal of reliability and a radius of more than 1,000 km provide an opportunity to provide rescue work in the mountainous area and carry patrols in the Azov-Black Sea basin. "It is precisely in this region that we must be prepared for any incidents, as well as for air reconnaissance. But, first of all, the task is to defend the border, to save people. I am sure that our Ukrainian pilots will honor this mission honestly" he said.
In turn, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that these are only the first "swallows" of the Ukrainian aviation security system and by the end of 2021 there will be 55 of them.
"160 days ago, on July 14, we signed with the French side an unprecedented in scale contract for the purchase of 55 helicopters by Ukraine. These multi-purpose, handsome Airbus Helikopters Super Puma brings a start to the practical stage in the creation of the Ukrainian Aviation Safety System. The State Emergency Service and the National Guard of Ukraine have become more powerful at 11 tons each! "- Arsen Avakov said.
We will also remind that in Ukraine there will be a center for maintenance of these helicopters, which will enable to serve not only our machines, but also to take orders from the European partners, to strengthen cooperation with the European Union.
